Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis

Today on this 1996 Mercury Grand Marquee we're going to install part number 118326. This is a T1 vehicle wiring harness with four pull flat trailer connector from tow ready. Your first step is go ahead and open up the trunk. We need to remove the threshold right here because we need access to the liners that are covering up the back side of the tail lights. To remove our threshold, we need to go ahead and remove two plastic fasteners. I got a trim panel tool here, it works the best for this type of application. Kind of helps to start it from the bottom then work on the top side. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2002 Mercury Villager- Video

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2002 Mercury Villager

Ok, today we are working on a 2002 Mercury Villager. We are going to install part number 119175, T-one 4-pole wiring harness. I am going to go ahead to the inside of the vehicle and remove the side compartment door. You can see this also gives us access to our taillight wires and an area to mount our module. I am going to go ahead and repeat the same process on the passenger side of removing the cover. Ok, now that we have our cover doors opened up, what we are going to do is remove this trim panel piece so that we can route our wires from the driver side to the passenger side. Ok, now that we have our threshold piece removed, what we are going to do is take out this screw, or knob, which is a cargo hook, on the bottom and the top so that we can pull this panel away from the body of the vehicle to slide our wires underneath. You can see this will now give us plenty of access to feed our wires underneath the trim. 0:57 more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 1997 Mercury Villager

Today on this 1997 Mercury Villager we are going to install wiring harness part number 119175 from Tow Ready. We are going to wire up the harness mainly on the driver side of the vehicle. We are going to do these four wires and hook them up to the inside behind the taillight. And we are going to take our green wire and we are going to run it underneath the plastic to the other side to make our connection to the turn signal there. We will go ahead and temporarily take off the threshold here. This usually just pops right off. We are going to remove these doors, one on each side. Look behind the taillight and you will see the connection point with four wire going to it. Disconnect that and we can find our circuits for our converter box. And we are just going to peel away the electric tape so we have access to our wires. 0:50 more
